– no place for Shaikh Baksh, Maniram Prashad and Manzoor Nadir
People’s Progressive Party/Civic Member of Parliament Anil Nandlall is to be appointed Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, and several surprising changes are to be announced as the new Cabinet ministers are sworn in today.
Nandlall will be replacing Senior Counsel Charles Ramson, who has not been appointed to any post in the new cabinet.
Kaieteur News understands that former Minister within the Ministry of Health, Dr Bheri Ramsaran is to be appointed as Minister of Health, replacing Dr. Leslie Ramsammy, who is to be posted as Minister of Agriculture.
Robert Persaud, the former Minister of Agriculture, will be appointed to a yet unnamed position within the Office of the President.
Jennifer Webster, who was Junior Finance Minister, is the new Minister of Human Services, replacing Priya Manickchand who may be appointed to a top post in the Education Ministry.
But there will be no place in the new cabinet for former Minister of Education Shaik Baksh; Trade, Tourism and Commerce Minister Manniram Prashad and Minister of Labour Manzoor Nadir.
Retaining their posts are Minister of Finance Dr. Ashni Singh; works and Minister Public Works Robeson Benn and Minister of Home Affairs Clement Rohee. There is no word yet on ministers Jennifer Westford and Irfaan Ali.
