Two men have been detained by the police as investigations continue into Friday’s $1.5M robbery on 25-year old Raphael Bagot at Garden of Eden on the East Bank of Demerara.
One of the men was caught in the getaway car, while the other man was arrested hours later when he turned up to claim the vehicle.
Bagot of Kuru Kuru, Soesdyke/Linden Highway was in his car which was parked at Garden of Eden when he was held up by a man armed with a gun around 18:15 hours
The man took away the cash and escaped in a waiting motor car.
According to the police, a relative of Bagot came up shortly after and they gave chase behind the getaway vehicle PLL 7395 which they caught up with at Second Street, Craig.
They managed to apprehend the suspect while three other men who were in the vehicle escaped.
The suspect was handed over to the police who also impounded the car.
Later a man reported to the police at Golden Grove Police Station and said that he had earlier been attacked and robbed of the vehicle.
Police did not believe his story and he too was arrested.
