EBFA Coca Cola final now set for Wednesday at Thirst Park
The inaugural Banks DIH sponsored Coca Cola Senior League is set for an enthralling finale on Wednesday when the final and third-place matches are contested at the Banks DIH Ground, Thirst Park.
Weeks of exciting action played at both Thirst Park and the Diamond Community Centre Grounds will come to a deserved conclusion at the home of Coca Cola in Guyana between the sponsors team and former East Bank powerhouse, Grove.
The Grove unit is on a path to reclaim former glory and apart from gunning for yet another championship, will also be celebrating the fact that they have now been included in the 22nd Edition of the Kashif & Shanghai tournament as the number one standby team.
Banks FC however, cannot be taken lightly as they possess a number of solid players who have donned national colors before and they too, will have a point to prove setting the scene for an exciting final.
Grove will look to the likes of Domini Garnett, Timothy Griffith, Devon Joseph, Nathaniel Pilgrim, Orson Francois, Clive Matthews, Delroy Dodson, Sherwin Doris, Kevin Alleyne, Rondell Alleyne, Travis Jones and their Captain Levi Braithwaite to design yet another championship victory for them.
Banks will be banking on the experience of Peter Parks, Seon McKenzie, Devon Forde, Rawle Adams, Ike Garraway and Phillip Rowley to see them to victory. Awaiting the winner of this encounter is a $300,000 cheque, compliments of Coca Cola.
The third-place game will also be an interesting tussle between two teams invited as the first and second choice for the Kashif & Shanghai tournament.
Timehri Panthers lost their bid to defend the league title when they were upstaged by Grove Hi Tec in their semifinal encounter on sudden death penalty kicks after a 1-1 regulation and extra time stalemate.
And apart from seeking to beat Kuru Kururu Warriors, who lost to Banks FC in their semifinal game, both teams will be using this game as much needed warm-up leading up to what is anticipated to be stiffer competition in the Kashif & Shanghai tournament.
Leading Panthers’ quest for a win will be Fizal Mohamed, Jarel Walcott, Dellon Douglas, Oliver Denny, Romel Myles, Collis Messiah, Travis Thornhill, Eon Dowding, Seon David, Troy Johnson and Andy Higgins.
Stepping up to the plate for the Warriors will be the likes of Cordell Johnson, Dexroy Adams, Ryan Scott, Christopher Alleyne, Christopher Fraser, Alvin Adams, terry Millington, Deon Denhart, Steve Gibson, Nejon Hooks, Courtney Grant, Delon Roberts, Paul Joseph and Jermaine Alleyne.
Third place action is set to kick off at 18:30hrs on Wednesday at Thirst Park with the final following immediately after.
