Guyana’s young Lady Jags failed in their bid to advance to the final of the CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 finals following their 1-0 loss to the Bahamas in their final game of Round Two competition contested at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex, Kingston, Jamaica, yesterday.
Improving with each game, the young Guyanese scored against themselves three minutes before half time to hand Bahamas the other qualifying spot following the qualification of the host nation Jamaica and the Twin Island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago who clashed in the final group game last evening at the same venue.
The inexperienced Guyanese team can only get better from the exposure they would have gained in this competition after winning their Round-One group in Guyana with a 2-0 win over Anguilla and a 1-1 draw with Curacao, Guyana lost all their semifinal round matches to T&T0-8, Jamaica 0-5 and Bahamas 0-1. The team is expected back home today (Sunday).
