The Association do Shotokan Karate – Guyana recently held Grading
Examinations which saw some thirty (30) Karate Students being graded by Sensei Amir Khouri 6th Dan at the YMCA, Thomas Lands.
Sensei Khouri, assisted by Sensei Nathalie Gibson 3rd Dan deputized for Shihan Frank Woon-A-Tai 9th Dan and graded students of ASK-G (Georgetown & Albion ) who missed the October 30, 2011 Karate Grading Examinations.
Nine (9) students were promoted to Yellow Belt (8 Kyu), 4 Students to Orange (7 Kyu), 8 Students to Green (6 Kyu), 4 Students to Blue (5 Kyu), 2 Students to Brown (3 Kyu), 2 Students to Brown (2 Kyu), 1 Student to Brown (1 Kyu).
Meanwhile, Anna Regina had 20 students who were examined by Chief Instructor Sensei Khouri on November 19 at the Anna Regina Multilateral School.
Assisted by Narendra Jaigopaul, Sensei Khouri graded 3 Students to Yellow Belt (8 Kyu), 1 to Orange (7 Kyu), 1 to Green (6 Kyu), 2 to Blue (5 Kyu), 3 to Purple (4 Kyu), 3 to Brown (3 Kyu), 2 to Brown (2 Kyu), 5 to Brown(1 Kyu).
Sensei Khouri in complimenting the students said he was looking forward to the next Grading Examination with Shihan Woon-A-Tai when Anna Regina will be seeing its first Black Belt student/s emerging on its 3rd anniversary.
Gratitude is being extended to Mr. Laljeet Rooplall Head Master of Anna Regina Multilateral Secondary, Ms. Virena Rasheed, Ms. Maria Hackett, Ms. Cheronica Abdool, Ms. Insanally and other parents who worked so hard to make the exams a pleasant success.
