Guyana’s Under-17 Lady Jags will be aiming for an improved performance when they come up against host team Jamaica when qualifying action in the CONCACAF World Cup competition continues at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex, Kingston, Jamaica, today.
Jamaica, like Trinidad and Tobago who defeated Guyana in their first game on Tuesday 0-8, won their opening encounter against the Bahamas 2-0.
The young Guyanese players have shown great resolve despite the loss and will be seeking to pull out all the stops coming up against the home team.
With three teams assured of advancing to the CONCACAF finals next year, the wins for both T&T and Jamaica have strengthened their chances of advancing.
While it might be an uphill task for the Lady Jags, they are focused on giving it their all today as they did on Tuesday.
Trinidad and Tobago got their goals against the Guyanese from Diarra Simmons who netted in the 9th, 42nd, 87 and 88th minute. Anique Walker converted in the 17th, Khadishra Debesette 47th, Khadisha Debesette 70th and Marlique Asson two minutes into the game.
Guyana’s leading goal scorer at this level, Sara Vaughn along with Urseline Primus, the other goal scorer for the Land of Many Waters in the first round matches will be aiming to find goal scoring form against the Jamaicans today and lead their country to win number one in this group.
Guyana will play its final game against the Bahamas on Saturday. Clashing in today’s first game will be T&T and Bahamas.
