Dear Editor,
Unless I missed it, I am anxiously awaiting the AFC to remind the Guyanese People and moreso the PNC supporters that because of Robert Corbin‘s intransigence, ineptitude, etc, the Jagdeo regime was able to unabatedly marginalize and disrespect them.
Jagdeo has effectively made Corbin and his lackeys afraid to talk about the PNC‘s founder leader Forbes Burnham even though history has shown that he did much more good than the PPP cabal.
Burnham must be turning in his grave to see Granger and Corbin new friends from a defunct WPA.
The PPP proudly lavishes praises on Cheddi Jagan while Corbin and his band cower. Corbin failed to prepare the PNC/R for the 2011 general elections but concentrated on ensuring that he remains leader of his party.
The Guyanese public must be reminded that though Corbin seems to be taking a back seat he remains the de facto leader, and since APNU is 99 percent PNC/R, APNU and PNC/R are one and the same with Corbin the Puppet Master.
The voting public must also be reminded of Corbin‘s involvement in the Power Barge fiasco and his several one on one meetings with Jagdeo which resulted in him taking care of himself and selling out the poor Guyanese people. (No street protests)
Now we hear of Jagdeo‘s pension. What about Corbin‘s pension? What were Luncheon and Carberry’s discussions all about? Wasn’t it about Robert‘s piece of the pie? If not, then what?
From my vantage point it seems that Corbin‘s PNC/R/APNU is hoping for a win by default. They see their saving grace in Nagamootoo‘s defection to the AFC. That Nagamootoo will significantly reduce the PPP/C‘s support thus rendering Corbin‘s PNC/R/APNU victorious.
This will effectively give him what he was looking for all along; power through the back door.
APNU must therefore clearly indicate to the public what will be its position as regards the leader of the PNC’s role post election. Please be reminded of the existing national and party constitution which clearly provide for paramountcy of the party and not for a presidential candidate.
Also, a careful analysis of the lists of candidates reveals: APNU——— 80 percent Afro Guyanese. PPP/C—————65 percent Indo Guyanese. AFC———— 37 percent Indo Guyanese 50 percent Afro Guyanese. APNU————32 percent women PPP/C ————— 21 percent women. AFC ——— 35 percent women
This clearly indicates that despite their usual election rhetoric the gender and ethnic priority within both APNU and PPP/C ultimately leave Guyana and its People running on the spot.
