Rossen Felix turned in a gutsy display to defeat a competent field of race walkers when the Cavaliers Sports and Tour Club (CSTC) staged its ‘Peace and Unity’ 5K Racewalk Meet around the Den Amstel WCD community on Sunday November 20 last.
Malcolm Johnson finished just behind Felix in a competitive event while Kevin Felix closed off the podium spots, Orin Smith finished in fourth place. Karen Smith was the first female walker to cross the line.
The successful walkers received trophies donated by Minister of Agriculture, Robert Persaud, Dr Lionel DaSilva of DaSilva’s House of Optics, Gafoors and Modern Optical Services.
Meanwhile, the walkers are gearing up for another event, a 10K ‘Peace and Unity’ Racewalk around the Den Amstel WCD community starting at 06:30hrs tomorrow morning. This event will precede another around the Soesdyke Community starting at 0630hrs on Sunday, November 27.
Participants are asked to convene at Trevor’s Photo Studio, Back Road Soesdyke for the start.
They will then proceed around the periphery of the community and back to the place of origin. Once again the walkers receive trophies and medals donated by the business community.
