The Guyana Oil Company Limited has added another facility to its Diamond service station, this time introducing a fast food joint to the East Bank Demerara.
On Tuesday, the company official opened their Diamond Food Court which will offer JR Burger, Pizza Boys and Royal Castle.
Dr. K. Mangal, GuyOil’s Chairman, noted that the Diamond area has been expanding rapidly and the facility is expected to see further progress and enhancement to the community which boasts two new housing schemes.
Two out of three available concessionaires at the Diamond Food Court which was commissioned on Tuesday.
According to GuyOil’s Managing Director, the state-owned entity had promised a year ago to commission a food court that will become one of the finest restaurant facilities in Guyana has the capacity to house four restaurants and approximately 200 people at a time.
Persaud disclosed that GuyOil was sold one acre of land at a “concessionary price” by the government with the objective to simply build a service station, but the idea of adding a food court to supplement business was an even better goal.
“This is not solely a GuyOil business, but a PPP business. I did not say PPP party business, but instead Public/Private Partnership,” Persaud said in jest.
President Bharrat Jagdeo, who was present, commended GuyOil on their expansion into the food business.
