The Bakewell nationwide Softball tournament is entering its final stage. Last week at the Ministry of Education Ground, Floodlights defeated Parika Defenders by 76 runs. Regal Senior’s thumped Savage Masters by 44 runs to reach the final in the Over 40 category.
The playoff for the Male/Female Open category will take place this Sunday in Georgetown to decide the qualifiers for the finals set for December 11 at the Ministry of Education Ground (formerly Softball Ground) on Carifesta Avenue.
Fixtures for this Sunday’s playoff: Education Ground: Pitch 1: 09:00hrs – Memorex vs Herstelling. Pitch 2: 09:00hrs – Trophy Stall A vs Die Hard.
Carifesta Sports Complex Ground: Pitch 1: 09:00hrs – Regal vs Adventure Sports Club. Pitch 2: 09:00hrs – Rockaway vs Celebrity Times.
Education Ground: Pitch 1: 11:00hrs – Rose Hall Females vs Buxton Stars.
Male Open: 12:30hrs – Winners at Education Ground to play semi finals on Pitch 1. 12:30hrs – Winners at Carifesta Sports Complex to play at Education Ground on Pitch 2. Education Ground: 15:00hrs – Female semi finals.
Semi finals results of November 20: Regal Seniors 190 for 5 off 25 overs – M. Chunnilall 63 not out, Mahendra Hardyal 32, Jagaa Bhoj 30. Savage in reply, 156 for 7 off 25 overs – N. Baksh 39 not out, Rudy Rodrigues and M. Chunnilall took 2 wickets each.
Floodlights vs Parika Defenders: Floodlights 162 for 9 in 25 overs – Tulsi Sahadeo 61, Ramesh Sunich 22 not out.
A. Mohamed took 4 wickets for 9 runs for Defenders who in reply were sent packing for 86 in 20.3 overs. Imtiaz Mohamed took 5 for 16 bowling for Floodlights.
