Albion Community Centre Cricket Club has banned two of its first division players – Ramnarine Chattergoon
and Jonathan Foo – for showing decent to the Club and its Administrators.
Ramnarine Chattergoon was given a 15-month ban (October 2011 to December 2012) for showing decent to an Executive of the Club and leaving a cricket match without permission, while Jonathan Foo was given an 18-month ban (December 2011 to May 2013) for using indecent language to a Club Executive.
The Corentyne, Berbice Club, which has produced three West Indies Test cricketers (Narsingh Deonarine, Sewnarine Chattergoon, and Devendra Bishoo) has disclosed that it has a zero tolerance for indiscipline.
The Club’s other Test player is Sew Shivnarine who played the first of his eight Test matches against Australia at the GCC Ground, Bourda in 1978.
An Albion Press release informed that the 21 year-old Foo, forced the Executive to make such a strong decision because of several past instances of indiscipline.
According to Albion, in 2010 the Executives reviewed a three-year ban imposed on Foo by the Disciplinary Committee for abandoning an official Berbice Cricket Board match to play in a competition staged by the Bush Lot Club which had at stake $1 Million in prize money.
Albion said both players failed to attend the disciplinary hearing; showing total disregard for the Club and Executive and as such will not be allowed to represent them until the completion of their suspension.
Foo came to national prominence with a string of cameos during the 2010 Caribbean Cup Twenty20 competition including a sensational unbeaten 42 against Barbados in the Final in Trinidad, but has struggled badly on the bouncy pitches in the Champions League in South Africa last year; averaging just 8.33 from his three senior 50-over games for Guyana this year.
The 29-year-old Ramnarine Chattergoon is the brother of Hemnarine, Sewnarine and Harrinarine Chattergoon, who have all represented Guyana at various levels.
Ramnarine made his Regional One-Day debut in 2007 for the Combined Colleges & Campuses (CCC) and has played all of his seven Regional 50-over games for the Barbados based University unit.
