After a period of three weeks and involving a total of 60 teams drawn from West Berbice, East Coast, Georgetown, East Bank, Linden and West Demerara which resulted in a similar amount of matches, the Grand Finale of the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport 7:15 Inter Block football tournament is set for Saturday at the GFC ground, Bourda..
The curtains will roll down on the tournament which culminates with 6 round-robin matches, with the winner qualifying for the final.
Group A consist of: Hopetown of West Berbice, First Street Warriors of Campbellville, Georgetown and Company Road of Buxton ECD, while Group B comprises of: Grove Back Street of East Bank, One Mile Wismar of Linden and Stewartville All Stars of West Demerara.
The 3 teams in each group will play each other once, with the respective winners advancing to the finals, which will be played for a period of 30 minutes consisting of 2 equal halves of 15 minutes each.
The round-robin matches however, consists of 2 equal halves of 7½ minutes apiece, for a period of 15 minutes.
One hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($150, 000) along with seventy five thousand dollars ($75, 000) will be presented to the winners and runners-up respectively, in addition to the respective trophies. The respective area winners would have collected $50,000 for their efforts and will hope to cash in further. Kickoff time is 17:00 hrs.
The scheduled matches will see Hopetown vs First Street Warriors, Stewartville vs Grove, Hopetown vs Company, Grove vs One Mile, Company vs First Street Warriors and One Mile vs Stewartville.
