Seasoned distance runner, Lionel D’Andrade won the Suriname Marathon Saturday evening
in a gruelling race that had ruled him out of the South American 10km Road Race the following day in Georgetown. D’Andrade is a regular competitor in the event.
The Trinidad and Tobago-based athlete said that he was happy with the results since it meant that Guyana is continuing to do well overseas in athletics. He said the Athletic Association of Guyana must be commended for continuing to expose its national athletes.
