Good Success and Sans Souci have booked their places in the final of the Wakenaam Cricket Committee\ Thakur Lokram twenty \ 20 competition after recording convincing victories in their respective semifinal matches last Sunday at the Wakenaam Community Center ground.
In the first game, Good Success made light work of Sans Souci Jaguars wining the game by 7 wickets. Good Success won the toss and inserted the Jaguars to bat on a track that offered lots of assistance to the spinners. Zaheer Mohamed 19 (2×6,1×4), Safraz Mohamed 19 (2×6) and Tamesh Charritar 11 were the batsmen that reached double figures as their team, which suffered three early run outs, managed 97-9 off their allotted overs.
Lokram Narine took 3-19 and Imran Khan claimed 2-22 for Good Success who reached their target in 16 overs ending on 101-3. Arjune Persaud led with 38, while Chandreka Ragnauth offered support with 26. Charles Benjamin, Rashaad Rasheed and Charritar were the wicket takers for the Jaguars.
Meanwhile in the second semifinal, Sans Souci gained a walkover from Noitgedacht who failed to show up. The organisers and sponsor however decided that the Jaguars, who won both of their preliminary games and Sans Souci, who lost one and got a point from their second, which was rained out, will contest the other semifinal game with the winner going through to the final.
The Jaguars took first turn at the crease and were bowled out for 115 in 19.4 overs.
Zameer Zaman with 26 and Rashaad Rasheed 22 were their principal scorers as Seon Venture, Wayne Osborne and Keddernauth Naraine grabbed 2 wickets apiece.
Venture, who top scored with 36, Tulsieram Ramadeen 22 and Satnarine Sahadeo 20 then led Sans Souci to 116-8 as they won the game in 18 overs. Moin Khan, Charritar and Benjamin claimed 1 wicket each. The final will be played on Sunday at the same venue. (Zaheer Mohamed)
