US based Coach donate 11 sets of tops & 2 balls
Students of Dora Secondary, Kuru Kuru and Hauraruni Primary Schools were elated on
Thursday last when USA based Guyanese Coach Winston Benons handed over 11 sets of tops and two footballs to be used to enhance the ability of the schools to play the sport in a uniformed manner.
Benons, an accredited Coach who holds an NSCAA Diploma and is also a USSF License holder said his urge to make the donation stems from his love to see youths learn the sport in an organised manner.
Benons, who also works with the Kuru Kuru Lions Football Club whenever he is in Guyana, made the presentation to two of the schools on Thursday last at the Kuru Kuru Primary School.
In handing over the gear, he encouraged the students to be dedicated, remain discipline, respect themselves and each other and have a deep love for the game.
Benons promised to continue supporting the schools and the development of the game on the East Bank.
The students were also encouraged to make education their priority by President (ag) of the Guyana Football Federation Franklin Wilson who also attended the simple handing over ceremony.
Wilson encouraged the students to always aim high and to be disciplined in their studies which will also help them to succeed in the sport they love.
Head Teacher of Dora Secondary Garfield Morris thanked Mr. Benons for his timely donation on behalf of the other schools.
He noted that Dora has a student population of some 291 students while, Ms. Malika Yarris, Sports Teacher of Kuru Kuru Primary stated that her school has 125 students.
