-police seek third man
A man who allegedly broke into a Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara house is now nursing a bullet
wound following a confrontation with the police. One of his accomplices has been detained at the Diamond Police Station with a third still at large.
The injured has been identified as West Ruimveldt resident, Seon Hudson, or Sean Brewster 27. Hudson according to hospital sources was shot twice, once in the arm and once to the buttocks.
The alleged ‘get-away’ car, PLL 5888, is in police custody.
The men, around 14:15 hrs yesterday allegedly broke into the house located at 278 Section ‘A’, Block ‘Y’, Golden Grove, East Bank Demerara. The house belongs to Denesh Singh, who lives alone. He was at work when the incident occurred.
According to a police press release, upon arrival at the scene, two ranks saw three men exiting the premises. One of the ranks held on to one of the men, while the other two ran in different directions.
The other rank gave chase after one of the perpetrators during which he was attacked with an iron claw-bar, forcing him to resort to the use of force, shooting the man to his right hip.
According to a neighbour, he was in his washroom when one of the burglars jumped into his yard. He shouted at the man who tried to jump over in the next yard but was unable to. By that time, the police entered his yard and apprehended the man.
The burglars apparently propped a wooden ladder, belonging to another neighbour, against the side of building to gain access through an upstairs window which was not grilled.
They made off with $400,000 in cash, a gold band, and a Movado watch.
This is not the first time that Singh has been a victim of robbery. Last year his house was broken into and the thieves made off with a substantial amount of money.
Up to press time yesterday the police were still trying to locate the third man, who they say is hiding somewhere in the village.
