The President and Executive members of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) has extended congratulations to their Cellink Under-17 team on being crowned Champions of the Guyana Cricket Board Inter County tournament.
According to the Board, the win is well deserved and just another indication that Berbice was totally dominating cricket at all levels in Guyana. It also voiced the view that their cricket was at a very high level due to the hard work they have been pitting in over the years.
“The Berbice Cellink Under-17 Team was well prepared physically and mentally due to the numerous competitions being played in the Ancient County. The players were involved in the Memorex/Leslie Amsterdam Memorial Under-17 Inter Club and the Republic Bank Under-17 Inter Zone tournaments along with several others at the First and Second Division levels.
The Junior Elite Training Programme also played a major role in the preparation of the players.”
Singled out for special mention and praise were Manager – Moses Samlall, the hard working Coach – Andre Percival, Captain – Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai and Most Valuable Player Shailendra Shameer.
The BCB reassured the team that they will continue to invest in their personal development on and off the field and also that unlike other Boards they would always place the development of cricket at the top of their agenda.
The upcoming Under-15, 19, 21 and 23 tournaments are all part of the Board’s efforts to maintain the standard of their cricket and to continue the high tradition of the past.
“The Berbice Cricket Board also salutes the Berbice players named in the Guyana twenty-man squad and wishes them the best.” Gratitude was also extended to Amerally Sawmill, GT&T Cellink and Republic Bank for their sponsorship of Under-17 cricket in Berbice and the team.
