Two C class races on the cards, over $6.5M up for grabs
The Port Mourant Turf club (PMTC) situated at Port Mourant on the Corentyne Coast will on Sunday December 11 be the centre of attraction in the horseracing circle. The occasion will be the grand one day eight-event end of year horserace meet organized by the club. The club at the moment is undergoing massive rehabilitation for the big meet.
Eight action packed races are on the cards, and over $6.5M in cash and trophies are on offer. Turfites are expected to turn out in their numbers to witness what is expected to be an exciting day of racing.
The race meet is expected to be one with a difference as there are a number of feature events listed on the days programme. There are two C class main events, while the other topnotch races are the three year old mile, the Two year old gallop and the F class sprint races. Another attractive event on the days programme will be for horses classified H and lower.
The feature race will be going for a top prize of $1.2M with prize monies totaling over $2.2M covering a distance of 1700M. This event will definitely cater for the ‘stayers’ and distance horses. The other C class co-feature event will cater for the sprinters and will see the animals compete for a winning money of $600,000 over 1000M.
The Three Year old race for horses Bred and born in Guyana and the West Indies has a $500,000 bounty for the winner over 1500M.
The Two year old open event will see the horses galloping over 1000M for the $400,000 first prize on offer.
The F class event has $300,000 available for the winner over 1200 meters. The H class race winning prize is pegged at $200,000 with the distance being 1000M.
There are two other exciting races on the day’s card for I class animals. There is the race for animals classified ‘I ‘and lower over 1300M with a winning money of $150,000.
The other event is for the animals classified I3 and lower over 1000M for a pole position taking of $120,000. Entries are expected to be closed on Saturday December 3.
