The Diamond Martial Arts Association karate upgrade examination saw Javid Udai, Steven Persaud, Lloyd Smith and George Lim surpassing the assessment to be promoted to first degree Black Belt at the Diamond Community Centre, East Bank Demerara yesterday.
The fifth Dan Instructor, Master Lloyd Ramnarine evaluated the four students as they demonstrated Shotokan, Jujitsu and Judo forms at the centre. These complicated moves which were performed by the four Karatekas came with six years of hard training.
Along with the practical assessment by the fifth Dan Instructor, the four Karatekas were also examined theoretically on different aspects of the sport to test their knowledge on the history of Martial Arts and Japanese Language. This aspect was assessed since it plays a major role in a Karatekas journey in the sport.
