After losing the first set 6-4, Chand/Lopes raced off to a 5-1 lead as they continually attacked the net. The set ended 6-3 and forced the super tiebreak decider. Chand/Lopes seemed to be on course for victory when up 7-4 before a combination of good play and unforced errors allowed Lopes/Lewis to storm back and take the set 10-8.
In the other Men’s Doubles match, Leyland Leacock/Gilbert Barckoy edged past the talented and big serving pair of Ronald Murray/Nicholas Fenty 7-6 (10-8) in the first set before rolling to a 6-2 second set win to advance to the semifinals.
