Police have reportedly taken a statement from Information Liaison to the President, Kwame Mc Coy, concerning his alleged gun-butting of 50-year-old Clifton Stewart.
Kaieteur News understands that Mc Coy gave a statement to ranks at the Brickdam Police Station yesterday. However, it is unclear whether he will be charged.
Stewart, a seaman of Joseph Pollydore Street, Lodge, has alleged that he was in the company of friends last Saturday night when he observed Mc Coy erecting PPP/C posters in the area.
Stewart reportedly cautioned McCoy “to be careful how he was erecting the posters near those of APNU Presidential Candidate David Granger.”
He alleged that the Information Liaison responded by striking him in the face with a gun.
Stewart made a report to the East La Penitence Police Station and was given a medical report to take to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
Other civilians have made similar claims of being assaulted by Mc Coy, but he has never been charged.
