The United Force (TUF) party has been embroiled in a plethora of controversy in the lead up to the 2011 Regional and General Election, with most of it surrounding the leadership and now the imbroglio seems to have deepened.

Ismail Muhammad, the Chairman of the TUF, who had also been a staunch opponent of the party’s former leader and former Presidential Candidate Valerie Garrido-Lowe, had up until recently been a firm supporter of the New Presidential Candidate Peter Persaud and Prime Ministerial Candidate Marrisa Nadir.
However, A Partnership for National Unity held a rally in Bartica, Region Seven over the weekend and Muhammad appeared on that platform and endorsed the coalition.
He told supporters that he and the leadership council are now firmly behind the leadership of David Granger as Presidential Candidate.
On Nomination Day, Muhammad was firmly behind Persaud and Nadir and it is unclear at this time what caused the TUF Chairman to divert his and his colleagues support.
The TUF has been one of the parties that was cleared to contest the 2011 Election following the acceptance of their Candidates’ List for which Muhammad was a part of.
