Crandon smashed four sixes and two fours in 61 and got support from Test left-hander Narsingh Deonarine (34), Renrick Batson (25) and Jonathon Foo (17) as Churches Fried Chicken Corentyne Titans beat New Amsterdam Canje Tigers by 36 runs at Albion after they were beaten by Marios Pizza West Berbice in the days first game at the same venue.
In Georgetown, the GCB President’s X1 got past Nobel House Young Conquerors by 43 runs in the other match played yesterday.
The 11-team competition continues today with Gizmos & Gadgets Georgetown Pitbulls facing off with Nauth’s Motor Spares East Coast Jaguars from 09:00hrs and Carib Foods East Bank Pirates from 13:00hrs in a double header at Everest.
In Region six, the hosts scored 153-7 off their allotted 20 overs after both Crandon and National Skipper Assad Fudadin made themselves available after miss the opening match.
Off-spinner Kevin Ramdeen and Riad Ali picked up two wickets each for the NA/Canje line-up who fell for 117 off 16.3 overs despite 21 from Kevin Ramdeen, 18 from Jomal La Fleur and 17 from national t20 opener Richard Ramdeen. Crandon crowned a fine day at the office by taking 2-24 with his off-spin.
In the first game, Corentyne Titans were dismissed for 98 in 19.1 overs with Foo top-scoring with 21 and Deonarine making 15. Krishundat Ramoo captured three wickets, while Test pacer Brendon Bess and Eon Abel supported with two each for West Berbice who reached 99-3 off 18 overs to win by seven wickets. Romaine Boodram led the way with 30 for the Region five while Abel made 27.
Delbert Hicks, who represented Guyana in four 50-over and a single First-Class encounter, represented the Corentyne Titans and NA/ Canje Tigers yesterday, but could only manage five runs on both occasions.
At Bourda, Elton Baker (33) struck three boundaries before he was run out to lead the President’s X1 to 134-9 off their allotted overs on a slow and low pitch. Jeetendra Sookdeo (19), Rawle Browne (17) and Eon Hooper (12) were the only other batsmen to reach double figures.
Pacer Joshua Wade took 3-16 and leg-spinner Shawn Perreira 2-21 for the Young Conquerors who were restricted to 91-8 when their 20 overs expired.
Marcus Watkins top-scored with a laborious 19 while Jason Sinclair followed up a good game behind the stumps with an unbeaten 18 but only Kwame Cross (15) and Skipper Shaquille Williams (14) of the other batsmen reached double figures as Trevon Garraway had 3-24 and Captain Esuan Crandon 2-17 for the winners.
