With just a day from race day all is set for the mega horserace meet organized by the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club at Alness Village, Corentyne, Berbice in collaboration with Banks DIH, excitement has built to fever pitch all have eyes set on capturing a share of the $7M in prize money on offer.
The venue was a hive of activity during the past week as the authorities prepared for race day tomorrow.
Over 80 horses have entered with 10 events are listed on the day’s card. Among some of the leading contestants set to go to the starting gates in the various events are: Prince Charming, Zelik and Donut Prince are back and will be looking to give a good account of themselves against the others which include The Message, Night Crescendo, Delmur Gold, Top of The Line, Bridal Star Corner, Grande De Roja, Marathon Man, Get Set Go, Tiger Prospect, Face the Music, Miss Orientate, Star Tracer, Got To Go, Prado’s Gold, Swing easy, Work Force, Damascus Dream, Majestic, Zelona, Home Bush Baby, Dubai Duchess, Captain Crook, Momzelle, Miracle Run, The Bailiff, Face the Music, Northern dancer, Technology, Gold Plated, Got to go , Pride and Joy, Serenity, Gig Red, Big Impact, Mona Lisa, Prospectors Pride and Savion.
Most of the horses have been going good at gallops at the various venues and are looking in the pink of condition and picking winners tomorrow will be an horrendous task.
Banks DIH takes charge of the main B and lower event which has total prize money worth close to $2M with an attractive first prize tagged at $1M and trophy over 1700M.
The other events are the 3yrs old race for West Indies Bred horses over 1400M with a first prize of $400,000.
There is the F and lower race also with a winning money of $400,000 also over 1400M.
The Two Year old 1200M race for West Indies Bred Horse has a winner’s purse of $320,000.
The Guyana Bred Three Year old animals run for a top prize of $300,000 over 1400M.
Two-year old Guyana Bred horses will be competing for a $250,000 first prize over 1100M.
The G and lower even also has a winners money of $300,000 over 1600M. The H and Lower race is another 1400M event and has $200,000 as the winning money. The ‘I’ class event has a pole position winning of $160,000 also over 1400M.
The final race for the day is for animals classified JK&L (Division 1, 2, 3) over 1200M with the winner is set to collect $100,000.
Outstanding individual performers including top Jockey, trainer and stable will be presented with accolades compliments of the Trophy Stall Bourda Market and the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club.
The Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club has one of the better racing surfaces in the country and the track is in the pink of the condition.
Rehabilitation work has been undertaken at the venue with seating, water and track condition all being addressed.
