Dear Editor,
The People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) has done it all. This is surely a moment of ’moon ah run til day catch am’. When all else fails its only options become bribery, fear and intimidation, but the people have released themselves. Fear no longer consumes them, they are excited about the change that is imminent.
President Jagdeo’s sudden payout is the biggest election bribery this party has attempted this year.
It is a move drowned in its own fear; a fear that the people have already decided to vote solidly for the APNU.
So, like a frantic fox, Mr. Jagdeo has now decided to release the ‘people’s money’ to the people. Only a few months ago he duped the Public Servants, and questioned their right to any pay increase, but with his party’s back against the wall he suddenly finds millions to pay them. What a shame!
Guyanese workers are not fools and cannot be fooled by this government, which intends to bribe the people with their own money.
I have long argued that the Guyanese people are more intelligent than the PPP/C gave us credit for – for too long they have taken our apparent passive behaviour for granted.
No kind of bribery will stem the tide. Enough is enough! A new season is upon us, and we have already decided upon that.
Time is up for the PPP/C, a party that has reduced public servants to beggars, turned cane cutters to paupers and robots, placed teachers in a daily battlefield, and strangled the disciplined forces in every conceivable manner.
The PPP/C has come to realize that its perceived invincibility, had been a figment of its imagination. Guyanese people have had enough and will not be fooled or cajoled into putting their future at risk by voting for the PPP/C. The payout is the last straw. Game over! No ‘election payout’ can hold us! The PPP/C panic button is in acceleration mode.
