…authorities seize drugs and boats
Barbadian authorities on Thursday arrested five Guyanese and seized drugs and two vessels during a sea and land operation.
According to a report in the Barbados Nation yesterday, 62.5 kilograms of cocaine and 183.5 kilograms of marijuana was also seized. Two Bajans were also taken into custody.
The report said that the joint operation was on land and sea. Led by the Drug Squad and assisted by members of the Regional Security Service, and Barbados Coast Guard on Thursday, it resulted in the seizure of two vessels, a quantity of illegal drugs and seven persons being detained.
One of the vessels is a Guyanese-owned cargo vessel while the other is a Barbadian fishing boat.
The latter was intercepted off Sandy Beach, Christ Church within the territorial waters of Barbados.
