With just two weeks to go before the Budhan’s Memorial Turf Club and Sports Complex one day horserace meeting, telecommunications giant Digicel has acquiesced to the sponsorship of the feature event, the ‘I’ Class and Lower event over a distance of 1 mile.
The telecommunication company has donated the $280,000 for the event with the first prize winner receiving $150,000.
There are also other races to whet the appetites of Turfites including the J and lower and the L and lower class events. Then there are the Unclassified Group A and B along with two other exciting events.
The event is slated for Number 66 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, and gets underway at 13:00hrs. In all, there will be a total seven races at one of the new horseracing facilities in the country.
The track is said to be in very good condition and turfites are expected to experience an entertaining day of racing. Additional attractions will also add to the entertainment including popular musical entertainment. The new starting gates will be used at the venue.
Contact can be made with Andrew Budhan on telephone 338-2283 and 687-8773 for further details.
