DEAR EDITOR,
So sad to read that a prisoner died while on remand at the central prison, because “the prison has no authority to take a prisoner to the hospital for treatment at midnight in a ride that would literally take five minutes”.
A bit puzzling: why is there not a full or part-time medical doctor on site, or at least a few medics ‘off-site’ on call at night for emergencies? That seems to be the civilised way to go. Let us hope this chap’s death will not be completely forgotten and lessons have been learnt.
