Cortney Wilson was yesterday asked to post bail in the sum of $50,000 after it was alleged that he assaulted his reputed wife causing her actual bodily harm and destroying her property.
Wilson appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine- Beharry and pleaded not guilty to both charges.
The man, who is a resident of Diamond, East Bank Demeara, was said to have damaged one queen size bed belonging to Natasha Jordan, two window panes and a door, property of Debra Williams. He was also accused of assaulting Sherin Alleyne.
The prosecution stated that on October 26 at Bent Street, Wortmanville, Sherin Alleyne was using her cell phone when the defendant snatched it from her hand. An argument ensued between the couple. The complainant decided to go to the upper flat of the building and the defendant followed.
It was reported that Wilson jumped over a wall in the house to get to the woman. He had reportedly pushed the woman through a window causing her to receive injuries.
The man was unrepresented. Wilson will be returning to court on November 8.
