The woman whose name was given as Wilem Saul, had her hand amputated by doctors at the Georgetown Public Hospital due to the severe damage it sustained as a result of the attack.

This newspaper understands that Saul who resides at the home of a close relative is not familiar with the dogs there.
A source in Berbice told this newspaper that Saul had ventured downstairs into the yard unaware that the dogs were loose.
She was immediately set upon and despite her screams it took a while before anyone came to her assistance. By then she had been severely mauled.
