DEAR EDITOR,
Can the authorities please advise why there is no regular traffic rank located at the junction of Avenue of the Republic and Regent Street? The traffic situation is horrible and the Traffic Department is not doing anything about it.
Just a quick overview.
There are 3 lanes going south, the centre lane is supposed to go straight, the left lane must turn into Regent Street going East and the right lane must turn into Regent Street going West.
What happens is that the minibuses use the left lane to bypass the persons in the correct lane (a clear breach of the law and must be considered Dangerous Driving as they failed to turn) and the taxi drivers use the right lane, again failing to turn, to bypass the correct lane.
There are hundreds if not thousands of breaches of the law at this particular traffic junction on a daily basis and no one is doing anything to address this.
