TWELVE students, among them Ronaldo McGarrell who placed 12th at this year’s National Grade Six Assessment, received bursary awards from Scotiabank in recognition of their academic performance. They received their award on Saturday at the Bank’s Robb Street branch.
This is the first year for the awards which are open to employees’ children who wrote the NGSA as well as end of term examinations in secondary school, and CXC.
In addition to the cash awards, McGarrell and Lakeisha Patterson, who obtained 10 grade one passes, one grade two and one grade 3 at CXC, will each receive a Kindle Touch in recognition of their outstanding performance.
The other recipients are Cynthia Songster, Abdool Majid, Jasanie Austin, Nicholas Aziz, Melissa Waldron, Nathifa Williams, Daniel Ally, David Ally, Akeem Adams, Lakeisha Patterson and Shaniah De La Cruz.
The bursary awards vary based on percentage achieved by the students. The sums range from $10,000 to $25,000 for percentages 50 per cent and over.
