Dear Editor,
The recent news that Mr. Mc Wilfred has joined the PPP/C and is on their list for our November National Election has surprised most of the Gold Miners. The debate that is currently unfolding is one of interest, since many are of the view that Mr. McWilfred has a democratic right of choice to be supportive of any political party. However, the bone of contention is one of TRUST, Principle, and Integrity.
The Small Miners Association was born and the famous Bartica March took place because it was the understanding by the Gold Miners that the Government’s impending Draconian Gold mining Policies will severely curtail the profits of the gold miners and more so kill the vibrant gold mining industry.
The Bartica business community joined the march since their very livelihood was directly linked to the gold mining Industry and the businessmen and woman of Bartica understand the reality of the situation, if the Government’s draconian gold mining policies are implemented their businesses will be affected too.
Mr. McWilfred won the trust of the small gold miners by reiterating and empathizing that he understands their fears and he was the voice that they did not have; more so he is on record condemning the vice of the PPP/C policies as it relates to corruption, crime, inequality and opportunities.
He even went on to say, due to his Islamic principles it is indeed impossible to support the PPP/C because the Party policies are dictated not by the figure head but by the master at freedom house and it is not in keeping wih his principles of truth, integrity, equality and sound ethical principle as it relates to corruption and crime
An analysis of Mr. Mc Wilfred u turn begs the following questions:
Has the Government changed their impending draconian gold mining policies?
What will be Mc Wilfred’s role on the Small Gold Miners Association?
Is it not a conflict of interest to represent the Government and being the President of the Small Miners Association?
Can the small miners trust Mr. Mc Wilfred to truly represent their interest?
The debate has brought out various schools of thought, but the central theme is that he has used the Small Miners Association as a stool to accept his thirty pieces of silver, or was it thirty pieces of Gold?
Some are even contending that from his vista he observed that the house helpers of the PPP/C were enjoying fat crumbs from the dolphin trade, the President Youth Initiatives Awards, inflated contracts and more so the hostile takeover of Bartician, Mr. Ignatius Timmerman’s, Gold Claim.
Yes, all and sundry will agree that the crumbs that fall from the PPP/C table are bigger than any loaf offered by the Small Miners Association. On the other hand, some have consoled themselves by saying that being a field slave takes courage, faith, integrity, and moral strength.
These attributes are what Nelson Mandela & Martin Luther King embodied in their fight for social justice, fairness and equality.
I am of the view that Mr. Mc Wilfred has joined because he cannot endure the labor of being in the field and chooses the position of being a House helper.
I will encourage the entire small gold miners to call for his immediate resignation as the President of the Small Miners Association since it is impossible to serve two masters. I would like to close with this quote
“Integrity is telling yourself the truth. And honesty is telling the truth to other people.”
Mr. “Mc Wilfred to thy self be true.”
