The Mayor’s Cup Committee will from November 9 to 27 stage the Mayor Hamilton Green 77th birthday Inter Ward, Street and Village Knockout football tournament at the Georgetown Football Club Ground, Bourda.
A total of 32 teams will compete in the tournament which will see games lasting 30 minutes. The no offside rule would be in effect in this tournament adding to the competitiveness and excitement of the tournament. A game ending in a stalemate after the 30 minutes will go straight to the sudden death penalty shootout mode.
A first prize of $200,000 is on offer for the winner, while the runner-up will carte off $100,000 along with trophies.
The opening round of action on November 9 will see Western Tigers B facing Diamond, Broad Street battle Kuru Kururu Lions, Reggae Boys tackle Timehri Panthers, Bent Street oppose Kuru Kururu Warriors and Charlotte Street tackle Grove. First game starts at 6:00pm.
Other playing dates are November 12, 13, 19 and 27 when the quarter and semifinals along with the championship game will be contested. Lennox Arthur is the Coordinator.
