Dear Editor,
In these increasingly tense days, perhaps some levity is appropriate. Within this context, I feel compelled to advise Bishop Juan Edghill that, notwithstanding Jesus Christ’s legendary ability to perform miracles, He could not vote for the PPP/C in the 2011 General and Regional Elections.
Firstly, there would be some doubt about His Guyanese citizenship. For sure He has not been registered and is not on GECOM’s database/National Register of Registrants. Accordingly, He would not have been associated with the Fingerprint Cross Matching exercise. Further, there would certainly be some problems associated with his Residency Verification. There are many who will maintain that He has not been seen in these parts for quite a while now.
His name, therefore, would not be on the certified Official List of Electors. Consequently, under no circumstances, would the GECOM Officials and the respective Party Agents allow Jesus Christ to vote on Election Day, Monday, November 28, 2011.
