GT&T and Ansa McAl on board as ‘Wear Yellow’ initiative gathers momentum

train as the K&S collaborates with the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) in drumming up the requisite support for the ‘Golden Jaguars’ as they prepare for the most important match in the FIFA World Cup Football Qualifiers slated for the National Stadium, Providence on November 11.
The football ambassadors will contest the first of home and away matches against the Trinidad and Tobago footballers in Group ‘B’ of the qualifiers and victory would see them moving on to the next round, albeit against tougher opponents.
The general feeling is that Guyanese ball weavers, already on a high after defeating Barbados and Bermuda in similar encounters, are set to extend their success further. However, while this is the general belief, the organizers are leaving nothing to chance and are currently drumming up the requisite support that will serve as the fillip for the local team’s continued successes.
The Golden Arrowhead comprises five colours all with a specific significance. Of them all, the gold, which occupies a large portion of the national emblem and signifies our mineral wealth, has been aptly chosen by the ‘Golden Jaguars’ to comprise their uniform.
The Kashif and Shanghai duo, known for their shrewd administrative skills, has been mandated to put the necessary modalities in place to ensure that the Golden Jaguars receive maximum support for the impending game. Following hours of brainstorming, they have suggested that all Guyana, whether attending the match or not, don a yellow jersey in support of the local ball weavers.
Already, two corporate entities, Kids Coset and Café Paradise and Dixie Lee Caribbean Fast Food Franchise have recently donated sizeable sums in support of the initiative.
Yesterday morning, two other entities, GT&T and Ansa McAl joined forces with the football organizers in further support and Brand Manager (Stag) of the latter entity, John Maikoo, Chief Financial Officer of the former entity, Royston Rajpaul and the K&S duo expounded the virtues of such patriotism. Acting President of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF), Franklin Wilson was also in attendance at the forum.
All of the principals echoed similar sentiments while beseeching the support of all Guyana to render the necessary moral support. “This is a very crucial encounter,” explained Mr. Wilson. “Once we manage to win this game, we are on our way to the next round,” he continued.
Meanwhile, Kashif said that they are anticipating a massive crowd at the venue, all decked out in yellow. He urged those unable to attend the actual match to also don yellow in solidarity with the local players. Mr. Wilson also added his voice to the cause and urged supporters to, along with their yellow garb, arm themselves with drums and other paraphernalia in rendering moral support.
The acting GFF President praised the efforts of Technical Director, Jamal Shabazz and his deputy, National coach, Wayne ‘Wiggy’ Dover for their sterling input that has seen the team advancing to their current stage. “This game is crucial,” he said. “Once the Jaguars win they will advance.” Both representatives of the sponsors exhorted the input of their entities and wished the local team all the best.
