Dear Mr. Lall,
Our letter was done as a kind gesture to encourage open and frank discussion about all the candidates. Surely, from our point of view, one candidate who is subjected to forty years of GDF history is the candidate Mr. Granger. All sorts of alleged inferences were made. However, nothing is being published about Mr. Ramotar.
I wanted Mr. Kissoon to write about Mr. Ramotar and his alleged connection to the BASS group (more like the goon squad—members who became Presidential guards). There was the allegation that a person from Freedom House (not Mr. Ramotar) shot an Afro-Guyanese supporter of the PNC from Freedom House while Freedom House was under Mr. Ramotar’s command.(Somebody has to be brought to justice.)
Is this the type of candidate (Mr. Ramotar) that Guyanese, especially Indo-Guyanese, will vote for?
In my opinion Mr. Ramotar is a person of very little principle. Is this what the Guyanese people want in a candidate?
It is noted that Mr. Kissoon is not allowed to write on Mr. Ramotar, more importantly because the KN press allegedly want to “quiet” Mr. Ramotar’s image for the PPPites and for another five years.
This is obviously your choice—and as you adequately explain you do not give a crap. It is noted.
I do this take to mean that your “Freedom of the Press” means protecting the PPP and its candidate for another five years and undermining democracy for younger Guyanese.
Have we not suffered enough from the deranged PPP and its sister organization, the PNC?
The kind gesture was done with a hope that you were a person of democratic vision—I now realize that this is no so.
Anand Daljeet
Editor’s note: We assumed that this was a personal letter. However, we noticed that you sent it to others. And as for a democratic vision, the newspaper has published your comments.
