As the Food for the poor (Guyana) Incorporation begins to prepare for the Christmas season, the organization is urging persons to donate items for the Christmas Holiday, particularly toys, for less fortunate children.
Wesley Dowers, a representative for FFTP, said that there is an appeal to the public to assist the organisation in donating items that may not be of significance to them but will put a priceless smile on someone else’s face.
While many may see Christmas as a time of joy and happiness, it is the most depressing time of the year for some, with persons living with only the memory of a loved one or the material things they used to have.
“A small gift can go a long way in telling these children that there are persons who care about them and that everything is going to be alright,” said Dowers.
Generous persons, he says, can donate items to Food For the Poor office in the country and will not only reap the benefits from up above but will feel light hearted and good about doing something of such an auspicious nature.
Meanwhile the FFTP (Guyana) Inc. has started to assist persons in the less fortunate villages such as Ithaca Village, West Bank Berbice among others. (Rehana Ashley Ahamad)
