Super bike racer Carlos Rodrigues, who will be representing Team Guyana during the final leg of the GT&T / Seaboard Marine Caribbean Motor Racing Championship speaking with Kaieteur Sport, related that even though he does not have a chance of winning the individual title, he is hoping to do very well.
Rodrigues, who rides a Yamaha R6, told this newspaper that preparations on the machine are ongoing and he expects to be right there in the mix against the best riders in the Caribbean as well as those from Canada well including Kevin Graham and Craig Atkinson.
The talented rider, whose has motor racing in his veins, being the offspring of the late race driver Regan Rodrigues, said he is keen to do well at this the final Meet of the year, but also has his sights set on challenging current champion Stephen ‘Valentino Rossi’ Vieira for local supremacy next year.
“I’m not a contender for champion rider this year, having missed the two international events in Jamaica and Barbados, but I will be using this Meet to gauge the performance of the bike so as to ascertain what needs to be done to make me more consistent over a long period,” Rodrigues said via telephone.
Quizzed on what were some of the problems that caused him to miss quite a few Meets, Rodrigues disclosed an issue with the suspension as one of the primary ones, but felt that it has been rectified and his fans could look forward to a very competitive performance come November 13 where he hopes to upstage his more celebrated opponents.
Among the entities that has come on board in support of his quest to be the best include E-Networks, Mohamed’s Enterprise, Two Brothers Gas Station, Windjammer Hotel, Ricks & sari and West Side Car Wash and he extended thanks for their assistance.
