The Kashif and Shanghai Organisation has expressed gratitude at receiving the Medal of Service at the National Awards presentation recently.
In a release, the organisation noted, “We acknowledge with a sense of both gratitude and humility the bestowal on the Kashif & Shanghai Organization of the National Award, the Medal of Service, in recognition of what our organization has done, first to promote and popularize the game of football in Guyana and, secondly, to help make the game the most popular sport in Guyana.
“The Award itself, bestowed on the institution rather than on any individual, captures the spirit of what we have sought to be, an organization that embraces not only its named Directors, but also the people who have, over the years, worked with us to help make us what we have become; our loyal public and private sector sponsors, our key advisors, our diligent staff and the thousands of supporters who, each year, give their wholehearted support to the tournament..Therein lies the larger Kashif and Shanghai family. The Government of Guyana, too, through its unstinting support, has helped us reach where we are.”
The release continued, “It is therefore our wish the every footballer, every official, every fan regard the honour that has been bestowed upon us as belonging to them too. They helped in no small way to make it possible.
Even as we celebrate the award we continue to search for ways of making the tournament bigger and more meaningful, seeking ways to further grow the game both as a sport and as a vehicle for entertainment.
In this regard, we continue to rely on the support and encouragement of all those who have shared the journey with us over the years.
As we go forward we will continue to strive to be deserving of this Award.”
