When play in the Banks DIH Coca Cola sponsored East Bank Football Association (EBFA) Premier League competition continued yesterday at the Diamond Community Centre Ground, both games ended in 1-1 draws.
An offensive and defensive battle between Banks FC attacking the Grove Hi Tec goal at the Diamond Community Centre Ground yesterday afternoon in feature play.
Facing off in the feature game of the afternoon was Banks FC and Grove Hi Tec, two of the better teams in the association. It was billed as a fierce battle and lived up to that billing with neither team letting up.
Banks, featuring a number of seasoned players were placed on the back foot very early as the boys from Grove drilled one into the back of the nets just five minutes into the encounter through Romel Matthews; Banks had hardly settled and found themselves trailing.
They {Banks} soon found their rhythm and responded in like manner in the 20th minute compliments of a G. Gomes goal. Both teams kept going after each other with Banks enjoying longer periods of domination, but not able to make those many raids on the Grove goal count.
Peter Parks was not able to spark at all with another of Banks’ lethal players; Phillip Rowley also kept quiet by the disciplined Grove back four. Both teams took away one point each from the game.
The opening game of the also ended in a 1-1 stalemate between Kuru Kuru Lions and debutants, Diamond FC.
Enjoying home advantage, Diamond cantered into the lead in just the 4th minute, Kester Watson the player on target. It took some doing and quite a bit of patience by the Lions to get back into the game. That they did in the 56th minute when Keith Blair rocked the back of the nets.
No game was played on Friday last, but two matches were contested on Wednesday at the Banks DIH Ground, Thirst Park.
Banks showed no mercy when they hammered Kuru Kuru Lions 6-0, while Kuru Kururu Warriors thumped Mocha Champs 4-0.
Banks were led to their big win by Phillip Rowley who blasted the nets on three occasions (24, 50, 56). Peter Parks netted a double.
Warriors’ Dexroy Adams was also in dismissive form on the night netting a hat-trick for his side. He was on target in the 22nd, 35th and 65th minute; Ryan Scott opened the scoring in the 15th minute. Matches are slated to continue on Wednesday at Banks Ground.
