Today is the final day of the two day Second Annual Hearts of Oak Masters Football Tournament which is being played at the All Saints Scot Church Ground Princess Elisabeth Road New Amsterdam Berbice.
The four team competition involves host Hearts of Oak Masters and Scott School All start out of Berbice, Defending Champions Georgetown Football Club (GFC) and Rastafarian Patriarchs out of Georgetown.
According to coordinators former national Players Neil “Grizzly” Humphrey and Phillip “Pine” Carrington the idea is to keep the veterans active and to showcase the skills, ability and guile of some of the former national players. They stated that a number of other tournaments are on the drawing board and will be unveiled later.
Some of the players expected to roll back the years are – GFC Peter Lashley, Andrew “Docker” Bright, Terrence Muesa and Wayne Williams; For Rastafarian Patriarchs Terrence Old “Head Lewis” Royston John and Allan La Rose; The Hearts Of Oak Masters will be lead by the Ford brothers Adrian and Sherwin, Kurt Alphonso, Holder Pedro, Terrence Wills, Brian Simpson and Eion Farley. New Kid on the block the Scott School All Stars teams will include Junior Simmons, Brian “Rasta man” Ralph, Ceon Bristol, Orin Ferdinand, James Campbell and Carl Grahame
Yesterday’s game was expected to commence at 17:30hrs while today’s action starts at 11:00hrs. Trophies and other incentives will be up for grabs by the outstanding individuals and teams immediately after the completion of the finals.
