St. John’s Antigua- (Observer)- A Guyanese woman who lied to police while living in Antigua illegally, is now in the custody of the Immigration Department awaiting the next available flight to her homeland.
Danela Bisson, 26, pleaded guilty to making a false statement to police on October 8.
The evidence against Bisson states that the day prior to the offence, the mother of five went to the police station to make a report that her boyfriend had beaten her up and she bore signs of a recent bruising. Bisson requested that an investigation be launched into her complain.
On the day in question, police went to the home of the woman to enquire of the whereabouts of the alleged abuser. She met officers at the door and told them that she did not know where he was and the last time she had seen him was when he attacked her.
The police requested to look around inside the house, the woman refused but moments later the alleged perpetrator jumped out of the window and tried to flee the scene. The police gave chase and detained him for questioning.
Following further investigation, Bisson later claimed that the report was false and she did not wish to proceed with the matter. She was taken into custody and charged with the offence of lying to the investigators.
