Kwame Bruce had previously appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court to answer the charge of larceny from a dwelling place and was thereafter remanded to jail. Yesterday Bruce came back to court admitting his guilt in the charge held against him. The 36 year old father of one told the court that he had committed the crime and emphasized his request to have the matter over with. The presiding magistrate ordered a three-year term of imprisonment.
Bruce appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine–Beharry.
The charge stated that on October 3, he stole one Dell Laptop from the home of Leila Bruce, property of Owen Bruce.
The defendant entered the home of Leila Bruce, the wife of his brother Owen Bruce, at 65 Hadfield Street, Georgetown, and took away one black Dell Laptop computer valued at $146,880. He was arrested by police ranks after the matter had been reported to the officers.
On the previous occasion the court heard that the man had been involved in previous offences where he said he had been arrested before for snatching people’s things.
Bruce sought to have the matter resolved, therefore, telling the magistrate that he was guilty.
