The 2001 Tenelec Inc First Division 50-Over Cricket Competition organised by the Berbice Cricket Board,
continued last Saturday with three matches that were previously postponed.
The in-form former West Indies batsman Narsingh Deonarine slammed a brilliant unbeaten 153 for Albion against Edinburgh. His knock included 13 fours and 6 sixes and is the highest individual score so far in the competition. He was well supported by Jonathan Foo who smashed 103 with 10 fours and 2 sixes.
The pair featured in a third wicket stand of 200 that took the score from 83 for 2 to 283 for 3 when Foo departed. Deonarine, who now has 299 runs from four innings in the competition at an average of 96.33, added 45 in the last four overs with Veerapen Permaul (4 N.O) then put on another quick 45 in the last four overs as Albion reached 328-3 off 47 overs. Edinburgh responded with 205 despite 59 from Zaheer Hussain.
Balram Samaroo slammed a quick 53 as Young Warriors slipped to 111 for 4 in 23.3 overs before Seon Hetmyer (73) and Vedesh Singh (62) joined forces and hammered 154 in the last 14.3 overs with Hetmyer falling off the last ball to see their team to a very healthy 265 for 7 in 38 Overs against West Berbice. When West Berbice replied Kevin Ramdeen took 5-45 to help restrict West Berbice to 193.
Guyana Super 50 selectee, offspinner Stephen Latcha had a good day when he took 4 for 12 from 10 Overs while West Indies female pacer Tremayne Smartt taking (2-9 from 2.1 overs) and Joemal LaFleur (2-29) supported as Police were dismissed by Memorex Bermine for 90 who won by 5 wickets.

At Albion, the hosts beat Edinburgh by 123 runs. Albion made 328 for 3 in 47 Overs with Narsingh Deonarine 153 N.O, Jonathan Foo 103 and Doodnauth Lallbeharry 36. Shafiq Khan took 2 for 45 from 9 Overs. Edinburgh made 205 in 44.3 Overs with Zaheer Hussain 59, Yudrunauth Seepersaud 35, Shafiq Khan 30 and Denny David 26. Guyana Under-19 left arm spinner Gudakesh Motie Kanhai took 3 for 27 from 10 Overs and medium pacer Satesh Dwarka 2 for 26 from 7 Overs.
At Cumberland, Young Warriors beat West Berbice by 72 runs. Young Warriors made 265 for 5 in 38 Overs with Seon Hetmyer top-scoring with 73, Vedesh Singh 62 N.O, Balram Samaroo 53 and Guyana Under-19 batsman Linden Austin 42. Bowling for West Berbice, Keith Fraser took 2 for 32 from 8 Overs. West Berbice relied with 193 all out in 34.1 Overs with Arthley Bailey 39, Raffiel Estriado 38, Krishnadat Ramoo 25 and Ralph Ogle 21. Kevin Ramdeen took 5 for 45 from 8 Overs, offspinner Balram Samaroo 2 for 39 from 6.1 Overs and left arm spinner Anil Beharry 2 for 25 from 8 Overs.
At Edinburgh, Memorex Bermine beat Police by 5 wickets. Police 90 all out in 31.1 Overs with Leon Andrews topscoring with 18. Stephen Latcha 4 for 12, Tremayne Smartt 2 for 9 and Joemal la Fleur 2 for 29. Memorex Bermine 93 for 5 in 24.1 Overs with Keion De Jesus 32 and Joemal La Fleur 23. Bowling for Police, offspinner Leon Andrews took 2 for 16 from 4 Overs and former Guyana Under-19 pacer Kellon Henry 2 for 24 from 6 Overs.
