The Teachers who were selected from Port Mourant, Lower Corentyne, J.C Chandisingh and Corentyne Comprehensive Secondary Schools were recommended for the Awards by the Administrative Staff of their respective institutions.
Those recognised were Romesh Narain (Lower Corentyne), Nazia Hoosain (Corentyne Comprehensive), Nermala Sewdat (Port Mourant) and Toli Motie Sewnarain (J.C Chandisingh). Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster noted that the presentation was another historic milestone in the promotion of the ‘Say Yes To Education’ message which over the last 20 years has been promoted by the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club and its cricket teams.
Foster challenged the awardees to continue upholding the high tradition and standards they have set for themselves and students. The long serving Youth & Sports Administrator also urged the Teachers to always be positive Role Models and Mentors to every student they teach and to get them to understand the importance of education, discipline, personal manners and self respect. The experienced Secretary/CEO pointed out a habit among some young teachers who socializes with the students – stating that there must be physical space between Teacher and Student if respect is to be obtained.
Foster expressed gratitude to Mr. Ravi Mangar of Gizmos & Gadgets for sponsoring the Awards for the Programme.
