The New Amsterdam and East cane Lions Clubs has organized a four team 20/20 knockout cricket competition in observance of the 50th Anniversary of the New Amsterdam Lions Club which is set for tomorrow at Rose Hall Community Centre in Canje.
The teams expected to participate are Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club, Bermine, Young Warriors and Albion Community Centre. Play starts at 09:30hrs and while the first two games will be of 15 overs duration the final will be a 20 over affair.
A number of top players from Berbice are expected to be on show. Albion’s team is expected to include test player Narsingh Deonarine, Jonathan Foo and the Chattergoon brothers Sewnarine, Ramnarine and Harrinarine and Gudakesh Motie; Rose Hall Town will include Assad Fudadin, The Crandon Brothers Eusan and Royston, Renwick Batson, Delbert Hicks, Khemraj Mahadeo and Trevor Sinclair; Young Warriors should include the Hetmyer brothers, Seon and Shimron, Farouk Hussein, Balram Samaroo, Waheed Edwards and Linden Austin, while Bermine will depend on the likes of the experienced player coach Julian Moore the La Fleur brothers Eugene and Joemal, Andrew Williams and a host of other young and upcoming players.
