Inter-Guiana Games selectee Javina Sampson, stunned the track to prove her merit to the IGG team,
yesterday at the Eve Leary ground.
Sampson of Running Brave Track Club entertained the viewers at the North Zone Championships after creating a storm by registering the fastest female times within the sprint arena.
The former national middle distance athlete illuminated the track to capture the U-14 female’s 100m in 12.6 seconds.
Sampson then returned later to outclass her opponents in the female 200m and 400m, clocking 26.5 seconds and 1:04.60 seconds respectively.
Trevon George created many upsets in the 1500m and also uncommonly in the boy’s U-20 400m. George shattered any chances Devon ‘Scooby’ Barrington had of competing in the U-20 1500m at this year’s Nationals. The task was completed in 4:34.6 seconds.
The Mercury Fast Laner senior captain returned to astonish his training partner, the National Table Tennis player Nigel Bryan in the boy’s U-20 400m in a time of 52.40 seconds.
The twin themselves also cataloged triple wins at the championships in their category. Shaquan Daniels who participated in the U-16 category took the girl’s 100m, 200m and 400m with timings of 12.7, 27 and 1:05.5 seconds.
Shomaine Daniels ran a slower 100m than her sister but revived herself in the 400m to register 1:04.6 seconds.
Arinze Chance proved that he will be a force to be reckoned with as he made a clean sweep of the U-16 sprint events with times of 11.3, 23.6 and 55.1 seconds.
Former National U-15 all rounder Kareem Naughton took the podium after winning the boy’s U-18 100m with 11.2 seconds, while Jamal Marks took the boys U-20 with the same timings ahead of Orin Sober’s 11.4 seconds.
Devon Abrams, who was defeated earlier in the boy’s 100m, redeemed himself in the boy’s 200m and 400m.
Meanwhile, Zone 2 won the Championships overall after accumulating 2155 points. Zone 3 came second with 1917 and Zone 1 was third with 1740.
