Former Guyana Skipper Daesrath in Canadian side
By Sean Devers
Canadian businessman Andrew Persaud, the owner of DANT’s XI believes his team is ready to compete in the
Guyana Softball Cup 2011, hosted by Guyana Floodlight Softball Cricket Association from October 28-30.
“The timing is just right for my team to excel in Guyana after just winning the softball championship here in Canada” Persaud said.
Dant XI competes in the Canadian Softball Cricket League in Canada and they are the proud winners of seven championships over the last six years. Although his team will be without the service of pacer Satrohan ‘Razor Blade’ Balkarran due to work commitment, Persaud still feels his team can win.
Dant’s X1 will be touring with a relatively experienced side to compete for the championship which involves teams from New York, Florida and Guyana.
The team will be led by former Canadian National player Aftab Shamsudeen and his deputy is former Guyana National skipper Damodar Daesrath.
The squad also includes Yadram Bogh, Shaun Denonand, Muniram Karran, Looknauth Ramschuit, Ejazz Mohamed, Jai Deonauth, Anand Balwant, Orin Oneil, Latchman Mohan, Avi Singh and Bunty Sukhoo.
The team will be managed by Persaud while the Assistant Manager is Shawn Singh.
