The RAF’s Variety Store sponsored Hajjin Zeleena Rafeek nationwide Memorial Inter Jamaat Ten10 knock-out softball cricket tournament organised by the Muslim Youth Organization (MYO) of Guyana continued last Sunday at the MYO Ground, Woolford Avenue, Thomas Lands.
Following are the results of those matches:
MYO vs Success
After winning the toss and batting first MYO posted a massive 183 for 3; Saheed Gittens slammed 68 not out (3×4 8×6), Wasim Haslim cracked 46 (2×4 6×6). Shaiyam Razack took 2 for 22 for Success which in reply could only manage 118 for 6 when their overs expired.
Zaheer Persaud led with 41 (2×4 5×6) and Asif Singh 23 (1×4 2×6). Bowling for MYO, Gittens and Ricardo Latiff took 2 wickets each.
Albion vs Adventure/JC
Adventure/JC won the toss and took first strike; they made 128 for 4. Leading the way was Khalid Baksh with 83 (6×4 9×6). Albion in reply made a gallant effort t overhaul the winning total but fell just short of the target as they managed 125 for 6.
Imran Khan was the main scorer with an unbeaten 42 (1×4 5×6), Yaseer Mohamed made 18 (2×6). The leading bowler for Adventure was Ramiz Mohamed with 4 for 19, a display which broke the back of the Albion innings. When he was introduced in the 5th over he snatched 3 wickets which effectively turned the match for his team.
Cornelia Ida vs Cotton Tree
Cornelia Ida batting first posted 128 for 6; Amir Mahmood stroked 39 (6×6) and Imran Khan 32 runs (1×4 4×6). Zufiquar Bux with 3 for 14 and Inshan Ali 2 for 11 were the main wicket takers for Cotton Tree which in reply were never in the hunt ending on 97 for 5, Bux returned with the bat to hit the top score of 30 which contained 3 sixes. Support came from Shazam Yasin with 19. Bowling for Cornelia Ida, Akram Hussain and Imran Khan took 2 wickets each.
Enmore vs Grove
Enmore posted 132 for 6 with Ricardo Mahase 43 (5×6) and Asif Mohamed 34 (2×4 3×6). Shazam Mohamed and Salman Ghanie took 2 wickets each for Grove and in reply they were limited to 85 for 7 when the overs ran out. Shafeek Ishmail made 28 (1×4 3×6). For Enmore Wazir Majeed, Imran Ally and Ricardo Mahase snapped up 2 wickets apiece. Enmore also played LBI A and came out winners.
The tournament is set to conclude this Saturday at the same venue when the semi finals, third place and championship games being played. Cash and trophies will be presented to the top performers.
Semi finals will be start at 15:00hrs with the 3rd place bowling off at 19:30hrs and the final. One hour later.
